The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.“ Acts 2 : 42
“For me, sharing bread and wine is very important. At one time in my life when I was going through a deeply distressing and difficult process of getting rid of everything that was hindering me spiritually (Heb 12:1), receiving communion regularly was a lifeline. It may be just ordinary bread and grape juice, but for me it was the real presence of Jesus to my spirit, building me up in Him. Jesus drew especially near to me during that period and held me tight. For me, communion can never again be merely a memorial (though it is that) but it is the very power of God contained in simple elements.
This small water colour, depicted in bright colours, expresses God’s light and the preciousness of the life of Jesus offered to us all when we receive communion. “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of God and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” John 6:53 “
