Rooted in the rock by Jean Mintoft

The tree battered by the elements is deeply rooted in the rock and still bears fruit.

Description

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”

“Dartmoor, in the South West of England, can be a harsh and barren place. Yet in amongst the huge granite rocks and shallow soil, hawthorn trees grow. They are often scrawny and stunted, bent over in the direction of the prevailing wind. But they are very sturdy, strong and resilient. This year the hawthorns had an exceptionally prolific mass of shiny bright red berries, which really struck me. A strong and fruitful Christian life does not depend on good circumstances, but on how well rooted we are in Christ.”                                       Jean Mintoft
