The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.” Genesis 8 : 10-11
“This picture is an expressionist style allusion to the flood receding, with the dove and flames representing the Holy Spirit. The waves are heavily influenced by the Japanese print maker, Hokusai’s, view of Mount Fuji.” Philip
