You are with me by Sue Newham £500+ P&P

As the Covid 19 pandemic started to affect every aspect of everyday life, I felt scared and shaken by the illness and death surrounding us. The verse from Psalm 23 kept coming back to me, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” 

As the picture developed, I reflected that the valley in Psalm 23 was not like Death Valley in the United States. I realised that it is the “valley of the shadow of death”. Jesus walks with us, provides us with the living waters of his word and feeds us. This encouraged me to include the small river and the more lush vegetation that might provide some food.  We were indeed passing through the valley of the shadow of death. Jesus never left our side. The painting is 40cm by 50cm, painted in acrylic paint onto canvas. It is heavily built up with tissue, PVA glu and mineral texture gel, to make the chasm seem three dimensional.
