“Glorious hope” by Lynne Pugh

“The ideas for this painting came to me as I sat down and thought about why I have hope as a Christian. I wrote words and phrases down which quickly formed into a poem.
‘You held me in the womb’, right from the start the Father loved us and His love follows us through life like a seam of gold. The gold in the painting weaves through difficulty, discouragements and a ’web of sin’. ‘We don’t get what we deserve’, God lavishes love on us like the Father in the story of the lost son and here the man is greeted by Jesus at the end of life’s journey.
In 2 Timothy 4:8 Paul writes ‘there is in store for me a crown of righteousness’.
The two people I have shown the finished picture to have cried! One because she’d just been trying to explain to a neighbour about not being able to earn God’s love, that it is freely and generously given and another who saw first the red paint as the blood of Christ that covers all of our sin.” Lynne Pugh

2 Peter 3:9 “he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
Revelation 21:4 “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
The painting is acrylic paint on high quality watercolour paper. It is framed in a dark wood which complements the colours in the painting well. It is surrounded by a white ‘black core’mount and finished with non- reflective glass. The overall size of the picture in its frame is 64 cm x 79 cm.
