“This oil painting grew out of a sketch made during a time of experimentation.  The trunk is drawn onto the canvas and the sky lightens from a deep purple horizon, soft blues to soft creamy heavenlies.  The main ground area is deep blood red with flooded with many glazes to bring depth.  Where flowers would rarely grow they have sprung up at the base of the tree trunk in a profusion of colour and life. These are worked in thick impasto paint based on actual English countryside wild flowers but loosely worked for colour and texture. ”   Lois Thompson

The painting is oil on canvas. The canvas size is 80cm by 70cm and is painted around the edges of the canvas so it can be hung unframed.  If purchased, it will be sent out from the UK.
