The Father’s embrace by Sue Newham £1550 + P&P

“This picture started life in 2009. It is a response to the story of the runaway son who finally came to his senses and went back to his father.  He expected a cool but fair reception, but was met by his father and greeted with total love, acceptance and grace.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” You can read the full story in Luke 15 : 11-31.

I have “finished” this painting 6 times, but each time, after a few years, felt that I could do better at portraying the love and the joy of the father. Hundreds of hours have gone into this painting, but every stroke has been worthwhile. It is the story of God’s amazing love for me.”  Sue Newham
