Come you who are burdened
An oil painting by Jean Mintoft, £500 plus postage and packing
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
“When praying about the subject for a new painting, the verse above came to me clearly. It had been a pivotal verse for me when, as a young adult, I was looking for Jesus. I had always somehow felt burdened, and when I found Jesus, it literally felt like a huge burden fell off my back. As I was thinking about this, I had a picture of a rustic bridge, and this seemed appropriate for the painting. The traveller is going through difficult terrain but when he crosses the bridge he will find Jesus coming to welcome him and will find a new quality of life. As I added the tiny dots of white on the distant hillside to the left, I was reminded that we belong to Jesus’ flock and can “come in and go out and find pasture” (John 10:9b) In effect, this is a painting of my testimony.” Jean
The size of the painting is 40cm by 30cm. The size of the framed picture is 53cm by 42cm.
The picture is bordered by a plain wood fillet and a 5cm wide distressed light grey frame.
