“Woman Behold Your Son. Behold Your Mother” by Philip McMullen
£300 plus postage and packing
“This is one of a series in which the cross is created by negative space. This gives an opportunity to explore some of the deep graces of the cross of Christ. In this case, of course, the dedication of John to Mary and Mary to John in an intimate family relationship.” Philip McMullen
The verse in John 19:26-27 was Philip’s inspiration for this picture. “When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.“
The picture is coloured pencil on Bristol board, with added embossing and metallic leaf. It measures 35.5cm x 25.5cm. It is unframed, but can be framed to suit the customer at a small extra cost.
The artist will send the picture out from his studio in the UK.
