Anchor for the soul by Mark Wiggin

“Hebrews 6 tells us that God’s promises are true and that we can take hold of the hope set before us. Paul says in verse 19,“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.

By God’s grace I share with you my painting, and its symbolism. It is my attempt to illuminate the above verse, though I realise that there is much that I do not understand.

Our anchor of hope, Jesus, is represented by the mariner’s cross, also known as the anchored cross.

Jesus is steadfast, He will never let us go, He lives in us and He will enable us to survive through the tempestuous, turbulent waters of this life. The anchor, via Jesus’s life-line, passes through the water’s surface representing “the curtain” of God’s presence mentioned in the verse and leads to the hope that awaits us in heaven. The unusual choice of colours, especially with the Mariner’s cross, includes red for the blood of Jesus and purple showing His royal priesthood.”            Mark Wiggin

The picture is painted in acrylic ink on watercolour paper. The paper size 28cm x 38cm and the image size 26cm x36cm. It is unframed and ready for the purchaser to mount and frame as they choose.

The cost of this original artwork is £175, plus packing and delivery. The price of delivery will be charged separately, once the painting is packed securely and the price is known. We will contact you about this.
