Our lives take us through valleys and dark places, as well as taking us into pleasant meadows and up hills with amazing views. Sometimes we feel as if we are in a wide open space, and at others, imprisoned by our circumstances. When we read about the lives of Bible heroes of the faith, we can see that the same was true for them. Life is very changeable, and at times frightening and difficult.
Our comfort and hope are in the fact that, though everything else may seem like shifting sands, God is the same for ever and ever. He created us in love, and his love for us never fails. When we mess up, he is the loving father, watching and waiting for us to return. (Luke chapter 15) When we are afraid, his perfect love cast out fear. (1 John 4:18) When we feel imprisoned, he sets us free. (Acts chapter 12)
We can trust in a God who is faithful, who never changes, who will always love us and will always be with us.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31 : 6
