Personal Statement

1992 was a challenging year for me. I finished a design diploma at college, joined the Church of England and discovered Vestments. Then God got hold of me and wanted me to paint for Him. I found myself painting challenging pictures of dispossessed people meeting Jesus while the church ignored them! - It's called Urban Mission.

Now I make pieces of artwork for priests to wear as well as look at. My vestments often chart the wearers spiritual journey as well as their favourite symbols - but I also still paint pictures which hopefully will challenge the viewer or ask them to stand within the picture and reach out to God.

I paint mainly on silk using dyes, in which case, the silk is usually bonded to cotton fabric then stretched over a box canvas.I also paint in acrylic on canvas and occasionally egg tempera on wood.
