Glory to the Risen Lord by Emma Pilkington

The verse which is on the back of the greetings card is, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!” Luke 24 : 5

“At our church, we have a Good Friday meditation service. In 2017, I painted this picture. It is unusual in including a host of angels. Many prophetic words have sprung from this picture to encourage our church. Up till now, the picture has not been widely seen and I hope it is an encouragement to others too.” Emma Pilkington

Jesus in Gethsemane by Shawn Alyea

“The inspiration came into my spirit as I was thinking about Gethsemane. I saw a flash of gold and bronze on a profile of a hooded Christ. I sketched it quickly and felt the need to add a tree both macabre and comforting as Christ reflects on what is to come (Matthew 26:38). The moon boils. The tree is partially stripped of its bark to predict the cross to come. The branches reach to our Lord in an embrace as if to comfort, and bloom with life in his presence. The picture combines the horror of crucifixion, the joy of resurrection, and the glory of the promised bride.”   Shawn Alyea

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, ““Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”  Luke 22 : 42

Our Father by Shawn Alyea

“Christ is in conversation with the Father as he gazes into Heaven. His image is upon a black background with a thin backlight of white tracing his figure. Our Father is a foundational prayer for the faith. Anything we want to pray about can be contained by this powerful prayer. Christ allows us an intimate glance into the deeply personal conversations he has with Abba, our Daddy.”  Shawn Alyea

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6 : 9-10

Our redemption by Shawn Alyea

“Our Redemption”  expresses the theme of Christ’s sacrifice and his humanity. He will carry the sins of the world. (John 1:36) It is a simple painting in regard to line. The stary hairs show that Christ is approachable. He is not a God removed from our situation. I aimed to show Christ’s sensitivity in his face, giving his holy face a skin that is almost translucent.”     Shawn

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “He gave Himself for us. He did this by buying us with His blood and making us free from all sin.” Titus 2 : 14

Encircled in his love by Wendy Ross

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

“I am inspired by the women we read of in Scripture, who were closest to Jesus. At the Crucifixion, we are deeply moved by the grace, courage and compassion of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. At the Resurrection, we witness the joyful reunion of Mary Magdalene with ‘Rabboni’ in the garden.  ‘Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’  The natural femininity within the painting is echoed in the circular flow of movement and in a palette of the palest blush to crimson rose.”    Wendy Ross

He’s not here by Lynne Pugh

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!” Luke 24 : 5-6

“From the empty crosses at the top to the light streaming from the open tomb at the bottom, the phrase  ‘He is not here!’ echoes in our minds. The baffling darkness, sadness and confusion for those first disciples is shown in between as they meet in secret to puzzle over what has happened until with joy they discover He is risen!”  Lynne Pugh

Bread and wine by Gez Sullivan

The verse on the front of the greetings card and the print design reads,  ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’  In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.’  1 Corinthians 11 : 24-25

“I loved drawing this as we all take communion, yet I have never seen a picture of this significant act in any Church. I just felt that we need reminding every day of the symbolism of the bread and the wine.”   Gez Sullivan

Victorious by Dan Jimick

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15 : 54

“This relief print was my first artwork upon coming into a personal relationship with the living Christ after many years of searching for truth. Each color required a separate block to be carved, inked and printed. Rembrandt and other artists depicted the literal taking down of Jesus from the cross. I wanted to express the victory He achieved and that I now experience- the triumph of Life over Death.”  Dan Jimick

I painted this picture at Easter when my spiritual experience can feel very intense. Last year I did a very personal picture of Christ on the cross, painted from a place of penance and prayer. I realised that I cannot always be in a place of such intensity and wondered what it must have been like to feel far away from Christ, even when He was actually living amongst us. Is the message changed by our feeling of closeness or distance? I don’t think so.

Calvary by James Martin

Martin- Calvary detailA meditation on the Calvary scene; the dark and red-tinged cloudscape speaks of sacrifice and earth- shattering forces at work, while the brightly lit edge of cloud high above reminds us of final victory.

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” Colossians 1: 19-20
