Peace. Be still. by Dan Jimick
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14 : 27
In 2008 I created a three-panel hand-colored linocut based on Luke 8:24 where Jesus calms the storm. I wanted to express the tremendous power resident within Jesus that enabled Him to be awakened from a peaceful sleep during a savage storm by His panicked disciples and, by merely speaking to the storm, command the storm to cease. This is an adaptation based on the central panel of the linocut, but created as an oil painting.

Victorious by Dan Jimick
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15 : 54
This was my first artwork upon coming into a personal relationship with the living Christ after many years of searching for truth.
Rembrandt and other artists depicted the literal taking down of Jesus from the cross. I wanted to express the victory He achieved that I now experienced- the triumph of Life over Death.
This is a relief print. Each color required a separate block to be carved, inked and printed. The key block (black) was carved from a Masonite board covered with about seven coats of acrylic gesso. The tan, brown and blue blocks were carved from plywood.

To everything there is a season by Joanna Ray
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men” Ecclesisates 3 : 11
The separate but integrated shapes of the beautiful nautilus shell’s interior and the different moods of the colours reminded me of the different seasons and experiences of our lives. Put together as a whole, even the dark or ‘muddy’ colours are necessary to the final picture as the verse suggests.
Let there be light by Joanna Ray
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads,”Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” Genesis 1 : 2-3

Prayer Fires by Joanna Ray
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4 : 6
In answer to Elijah’s prayer that God would show his power as the One True God, fire fell from heaven – a sign of His victory over the powers of darkness. Visible fire fell on the disciples as they prayed for the Holy Spirit’s baptism, which Jesus had promised them. Sometimes we forget the power of our prayers.
Dancing angel by Joanna Ray
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding” Psalm 103 : 20
As sunlight shone through a flower in my window, it seemed to highlight what suggested to me the form of a dancer. I love the biblical description of hidden angels ‘rejoicing over one sinner that repents’. I’m sure that must be some party and I tried to express that here.

Protection by Oliver Pengilley
I had an image in my heart of someone being comforted, protected and covered in a robe. As with many of my paintings, I see the image in my heart and just try to paint it the way I see it. I pray that is speaks to people, just to be reminded that the Lord is always with us.
The verse on the back of this card is, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Isaiah 41 : 10
Whom shall I send? by Diane Fairfield
This painting is taken from the well-known verses in Isaiah, chapter 6: I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple…. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it and said “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away and your sin purged.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me.”
The verse on the back of the card is, Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me.” Isaiah 6 : 8
The tree by Oliver Pengilley
“The blood of Christ stains the tree. In this painting, I just wanted to show what the Lord has done for us.”
The verse on the back of this card reads, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.” 1 Peter 2 : 23
Sword of the Spirit by Oliver Pengilley
I always want to try and tell some sort of story in my paintings, and most show the relationship that God has with us. This painting is about someone being given the sword of the Spirit to help with their journey.
The verse on the back of the card reads, ” Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6 : 17

Trust by Rebecca Newell
Whether we are experiencing spiritual highs or lows, the acknowledgement of Christ’s place should be the same. Whatever mountains we are climbing or whatever clouds we are flying on our foundation remains rooted and steadfast.
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3 : 5
I painted this picture at Easter when my spiritual experience can feel very intense. Last year I did a very personal picture of Christ on the cross, painted from a place of penance and prayer. I realised that I cannot always be in a place of such intensity and wondered what it must have been like to feel far away from Christ, even when He was actually living amongst us. Is the message changed by our feeling of closeness or distance? I don’t think so.
Accepted by Olivia Smith
This drawing was inspired by my week at New Wine when I became a Christian. I could see people coming to Christ all around me and not only did I sense their fulfilment, even stronger was the happiness and joy of Jesus.
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “We love him, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
With this drawing, it was important that the embrace be as intimate and as real as that of a father and child. I have chosen “John 4:19: We love him, because he first loved us” Many of my friends and church family have been blessed by this drawing and they say that is holds a very powerful message that they have been needing to hear.

Graduation by Matt Ellis
I took this photo when I saw the shape and contrast of colours. It triggered something within me and I just snapped away. I love the way the shadows play with the whites of the image and how the red sharply cuts through the image.

I love how the light can be used in so many different ways to create shapes, colours, textures and feelings.
The verse on the back of the card reads, “The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 145 : 14
This is one of the main passions of mine when it comes to photography….the light. I was walking along the beach near Cromer in Norfolk and the light just felt magical. I took a few photos of the water, but this one just had that extra shimmer to it and I have been hooked ever since.

The verse on the back of the card reads, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31 : 3
I took a few photos hoping to capture a bit of the peace and magic of such a beautiful day. I think I took about 20 shots to get this single one that I liked.

Trinity by Sue Newham
A circle has no beginning and no end. This circle is a glimpse into the Trinity, where the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one and yet recognisable separately.
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, ” But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14 : 26
The symbols of the cross and the dove are commonly used to represent Christ and the Holy Spirit, but interestingly there is no widely used symbol to represent God the Father. I have used the creator’s hand. In the centre the three distinct colours become white, in the same way that a spinning top with distinct colours becomes white or light grey on spinning.
Angel by Christine Hales
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Psalm 91 : 11

Water of Life by Matt Hoile
The verse on the greetings card reads, “Whoever is thirsty, let him come.” Revelation 22:17
Dance in the light by Cindy Norris
She twirls and spins and moves her feet. Her joy in the love of our Lord is complete. For the tomb, once closed, has now opened wide. And our Lord, which it held, is no longer inside.
On reverse of card: “Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.” Psalm 143:9
Covered with Grace by Cindy Norris
We have all had those times – those terrible times – when we just feel broken. We feel stripped bare of everything which brings us peace. It is in these times that we pray so very hard for God to come and rescue us and He pours his grace down over us, clothing us in love and peace.
On reverse of card: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Hear our prayer by Alison Powell
In June 2010, some missionaries from our church gave a presentation on the work that they had been doing on the Burma/Thai border. When I saw this image I was totally blown away by the beauty of the scene.
It was as if you could hear the girls’ whispers and feel their devotion to God and I felt compelled to recreate the scene in a painting. From left to right, these girls are called, Naw CheeChee, Popa daw & Naw Salaboo.
Refuge by John Reilly
Deuteronomy Chap 33: 27
The eternal God is thy refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee.

For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famine, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Matthew Chap 11: 28. Come unto me , all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Footprints by Margaret Fishback Powers. My precious, precious child. I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you.
Darkness is as light to you by Sue Newham
Psalm 139 has always been so reassuring to me, reminding me that God knows everything about me and is always close by.
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you. Psalm 139 : 11-12

Rising Up by James Martin
‘Those whose hope is in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles …’ (Isaiah 40, 31).
I love to paint big cloudscapes with their drama of huge space, light and shadow. Soaring like eagles in God’s warmth and light is what this is about.
Pour over me by Sue Newham
This reflects my desire to stand and soak in the living waters of God.
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” Psalm 63 : 1
The waterfall image is one that has become very personal, capturing the cry of my heart, “Lord, I want more of your love, power and presence in my life!” This is the fifth painting of the same title and I am sure that I will paint more.
Resurrection morning by James Martin
Conveying the emotion and amazement of Mary Magdalene as she meets the risen Lord outside the tomb, the stark reality of the empty tomb and graveclothes, just as described in Johns’s gospel, chapter 20
This image and its particular viewpoint had been in my mind for many years before I tried creating it as a painting.
Calvary by James Martin
A meditation on the Calvary scene; the dark and red-tinged cloudscape speaks of sacrifice and earth- shattering forces at work, while the brightly lit edge of cloud high above reminds us of final victory.
Green Pastures by John Reilly
Psalms Chap 23: 1,2.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Philippians Chap 4: 19. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in Glory by Jesus Christ. Matthew Chap 11: 28. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
He goes before them by Diane Fairfield
This painting was inspired by a very old photo taken in Israel of a shepherd with his sheep. I have a passion for the Shepherd message that Scripture uses so often
It speaks so wonderfully of His love for us and His watching care. Much of the area where I live looks very much like Israel so I used my own photos of this environment to support constructing the painting. The scriptures that spoke to me concerning this image are mostly from the book of John, chapter 10. I named it after verse 4: “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” We are to follow Him in perfect peace and order.

Immanuel by Dawn Waters-Baker
Dawn say, “I started this piece before Christmas. In the picture, I have Joseph’s hand holding baby Jesus, just after birth, with the umbilical cord still there.
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7 : 14
I have always been so in awe of the kind of man Joseph must have been, not only to take this baby as his own, but to help his wife give birth in a stable. Truly Jesus was blessed by both His fathers. The second hand is of God the Father, as he cups the dark earth, yet also releases His precious son into a harmful world. That is depicted by the lamb silhouette behind baby Jesus’ head and also by the thorns around the world, a prelude to the crown of thorns that His Son will wear at His death. How much love it took to give us such a precious, vulnerable life, yet God did not spare His Son but gave Him as a “ransom for many.” Many times we see Jesus in quiet repose after birth, with Mary tenderly holding him, her hair all combed, as they both looked freshly bathed. I know that newborns sleep and, when they sleep, they do look so peaceful and sweet. I also know that newborns cry. Sometimes their cries are more like screams, as they get used to this new, hard world. That is how I wanted to depict Jesus. He was put in our skin to feel the cold and hurts that we do. Although sinless, He was fully human. I wonder if, on the night of His birth, the Father Himself even cried, as He saw His small son in the arms of teenagers, dutifully following Roman law in Bethlehem. I liked the cyclical feel of this graphite drawing and wanted the viewer to feel drawn into the picture.” » See more art by Dawn
