The gift by Amanda Steel

The verses on the back of the greetings card reads, “My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139 : 15-16

“This painting shows God giving us the gift of Jesus as a baby.  It shows that the physical side of events is what we can see happening on the Earth, but the spiritual part, such as a human spirit being created, begins somewhere else and is given by God. Although this picture is based on Jesus, it can be interpreted to be any baby. They are all gifts from God and greatly loved by him. Whether they are being given to the world or leaving it, He is with them.”

Not a mistake by Amanda Steel

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.”  Ephesians 1 : 4

“Our DNA comes from our parents and many of our physical, emotional and mental characteristics are from family members, but is this all we are? The Bible says that our spirits are completely unique, designed and created by God long before anyone else knows of our existence.  I wanted to illustrate in my painting that no one is a mistake. Maybe your conception and birth wasn’t planned by your parents.  Maybe you feel insignificant and lost or unnoticed in a big world. But you were lovingly and deliberately crafted by God, who did plan your birth and has a purpose for your life.  You were carefully created to love and be loved by him.”

The hairs of your head by Amanda Steel

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” Luke 12 : 7

“When my children were born I was amazed to discover how captivating I found every part of them, their ears, feet, the shape of their bellies, and  I particularly loved the way their newborn hair swirled around the crown of their heads.  I found something special in looking at them as they were turned away from me, almost as if it was a glimpse of their independence. I recognise they are their own person and will one day be taking their own path. As I took in every little hair, blemish and wrinkle on their heads, I realised that this is how the Father looks at us. When we are unaware, even when we turn away, he knows us so well. He watches us so intently. He has every hair on our head numbered.”

The power and the glory by Rebecca Newell

“After a bad weekend, I started to paint a tranquil picture to calm my thoughts and focus on God. The same awesome, powerful  God who has the grace and patience to listen to my fears and complaints and to show me the way out of them!”  Becky Newell

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path..” Psalm 119 :105

“I love the imagery of sheep and the shepherd used so often in the Bible. I saw these sheep in Mid Wales, lit brightly from behind and with light on the path in front of them and couldn’t help but see the spiritual aspect of the scene.”

I know the plans by Rebecca Newell

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29 : 11

‘I have plans to prosper you and not to harm you’ can seem hard for some people to grasp. I work with a lot of broken people and recognise that I am broken myself in some areas. Trusting that God will make good what is broken does not always mean that you will receive physical healing, but does lead to spiritual healing – a much more important part of who you are.”   Rebecca Newell
