Customers’ comments: “It is full of light. It is hard to capture light in a painting, but the artist has caught hold of the Holy Spirit and Jesus and reflected them here.” ” The use of greys and then the rainbow interrupting the sky is beautiful.” “It is so peaceful and gives hope for a new beginning for all.”

Pentecost by Mark Wiggin

The verse on the back of the card reads, ” We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” 1 John 4 : 13

Mark says, ” I was inspired by the verses in Acts 2, which describe the day of Pentecost:   When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

Victorious by Dan Jimick

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15 : 54

“This relief print was my first artwork upon coming into a personal relationship with the living Christ after many years of searching for truth. Each color required a separate block to be carved, inked and printed. Rembrandt and other artists depicted the literal taking down of Jesus from the cross. I wanted to express the victory He achieved and that I now experience- the triumph of Life over Death.”  Dan Jimick

To everything there is a season by Joanna Ray

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men” Ecclesisates 3 : 11

“The separate but integrated shapes of the beautiful nautilus shell’s interior and the different moods of the colours reminded me of the different seasons and experiences of our lives. Put together as a whole, even the dark or ‘muddy’ colours are necessary to the final picture as the verse suggests.” Joanna Ray

Prayer Fires by Joanna Ray

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Philippians 4 : 6

“In answer to Elijah’s prayer that God would show his power as the One True God, fire fell from heaven – a sign of His victory over the powers of darkness. Visible fire fell on the disciples as they prayed for the Holy Spirit’s baptism, which Jesus had promised them. Sometimes we forget the power of our prayers.” Joanna Ray

Whom shall I send? by Diane Fairfield

The verse on the back of the card is,  “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me.’ ” Isaiah 6 : 8

This painting is taken from the well-known verses in Isaiah, chapter  6:  I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple…. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.  And he touched my mouth with it and said  “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away and your sin purged.”  Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:  Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me.”  Diane Fairfield

Trust by Rebecca Newell

I painted this picture at Easter when my spiritual experience can feel very intense. Last year I did a very personal picture of Christ on the cross, painted from a place of penance and prayer. I realised that I cannot always be in a place of such intensity and wondered what it must have been like to feel far away from Christ, even when He was actually living amongst us. Is the message changed by our feeling of closeness or distance? I don’t think so.

Trinity by Sue Newham

The symbols of the cross and the dove are commonly used to represent Christ and the Holy Spirit, but interestingly there is no widely used symbol to represent God the Father. I have used the creator’s hand. In the centre the three distinct colours become white, in the same way that a spinning top with distinct colours becomes white or light grey on spinning.
