Hello everyone! How the months roll past! I can’t believe we are in the run up to Christmas again!
As some of you know, my father died unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to tell you how a picture that God put in my mind many years ago and that I recently painted has helped me through that time. My dad was not a Christian. In fact, he was quite anti-God, especially when he was younger. About 20 years ago, God gave me a picture in my mind which I felt was a promise that my family would become Christians. I prayed about it and remembered it. Last autumn, my dad prompted me to do a portrait of him and Mum. Some aspects of the portrait were reminders of the first picture God gave me, and as I painted, I reminded God of that picture and felt that I was reminding myself too. I also had the feeling that the portrait was unlikely to be liked by my parents (sadly true!), but that it would become important when one of them was left on their own. The fact that God gave me the initial picture, then reminded me of it so recently, gave me peace when Dad died. No-one knows what might happen in the last moments of a person’s life. And God is faithful and trustworthy.
Has anyone else had an experience where a picture has spoken powerfully into their lives? Or where painting a picture has sealed a promise that God has given them? I’d love to know.
On another subject, I am feeling very strongly that I must try and find a venue for exhibiting my work. For those of you who are old hands at this, a question! Where did you start?

By the way, I have closed the “comments” option on some of the older posts, as spammers had got hold of that way in to the website and I was having to wade through reams of spam to find one real comment.
