Hi Sue

Just getting used to using the Veritasse website and thought I could add a comment to your query re. art in the community.
This is an area I have contributed to over the years through various churches with initiatives such as art cafe's, expressive drawing courses using church buildings, art and soul arts and discipleship programmes for unchurched children. If you would like more info let me know.
kind regards Rachel Esdaile

Dear Jonathan,
The first link you gave didn't work. Have you got the address right? Remember that you can submit events to the Veritasse calendar too, which might be useful for your St John's project.

Here is a link to information about a church-based public art that I was involved in: http://joninbetween.blogspot.com/2007/08/love-light.html. An article about this event and others at St Margaret's Barking can be found in Issue 50 of 'Art & Christianity' (http://www.acetrust.org/bulletin.php).

I am just about to do a public art event at my current church (St John's Seven Kings - http://www.stjohns7kings.org.uk/). I will be publicly customising and decorating a four drawer cabinet in the Parish Centre. This project will involve photomontages, constructions, and paintings to create a piece of conceptual sculpture that will be exhibited at St John's throughout our Patronal Festival weekend.

I will work publicly on the piece during the mornings of 1st - 5th (9.30am – 12 noon) and on the evenings of 1st and 4th (6.30 – 8.30pm). There is an open invitation to people to come and view the development of the piece and leave comments about the work and the project. I will also document the project on my blog (http://joninbetween.blogspot.com/2007/09/visual-dialogue-invitation.html).
