I love watching as an image emerges from out of a blank canvas. To be able to create something from nothing is such a wonderful feeling. My work is representational, but with a contemporary feel, as I try to capture the character of my subject. I specialize in both the natural and the spiritual that extends from portraits to visionary and much in between. I love detailed and intricate work and the painstaking challenge of creating realistic images using small brushes but I also enjoy the freedom of painting large and loose and often abandon the brushes and paint and just use my fingers. This is a sumptuous delight as I allow the oil paint to ooze between my fingers as I “shape” the colour onto the canvas. This technique of painting allows me to be more expressive and vibrant in my work (and also allows me to get extremely messy!).
