The hairs of your head by Amanda SteelAmanda Steel“I’ve always enjoyed drawing, but after becoming a Christian at the age of 20, I changed so much I just didn’t know what I wanted to draw, and so I drew nothing for quite a while!

My first child was born several years later, and a young artist came to speak in our church about creativity I felt inspired. God awakened something in me and I began to teach myself to paint.

The message of the Father’s love was being preached in our church not long before and  I wanted to share that love through my pictures. I try to spend some time in prayer and worship before I start a new painting. I continuously give my artistic gift to God as I want to know what he wants me to do with it. I love to share things that He is showing me, especially if it encourages or inspires people.”     Amanda

The hairs of your head by Amanda Steel

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered." Luke 12 : 7

"When my children were born I was amazed to discover how captivating I found every part of them, their ears, feet, the shape of their bellies, and  I particularly loved the way their newborn hair swirled around the crown of their heads.  I found something special in looking at them as they were turned away from me, almost as if it was a glimpse of their independence. I recognise they are their own person and will one day be taking their own path. As I took in every little hair, blemish and wrinkle on their heads, I realised that this is how the Father looks at us. When we are unaware, even when we turn away, he knows us so well. He watches us so intently. He has every hair on our head numbered."

Not a mistake by Amanda Steel

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight."  Ephesians 1 : 4

"Our DNA comes from our parents and many of our physical, emotional and mental characteristics are from family members, but is this all we are? The Bible says that our spirits are completely unique, designed and created by God long before anyone else knows of our existence.  I wanted to illustrate in my painting that no one is a mistake. Maybe your conception and birth wasn’t planned by your parents.  Maybe you feel insignificant and lost or unnoticed in a big world. But you were lovingly and deliberately crafted by God, who did plan your birth and has a purpose for your life.  You were carefully created to love and be loved by him."

The gift by Amanda Steel

The verses on the back of the greetings card reads, "My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139 : 15-16

"This painting shows God giving us the gift of Jesus as a baby.  It shows that the physical side of events is what we can see happening on the Earth, but the spiritual part, such as a human spirit being created, begins somewhere else and is given by God. Although this picture is based on Jesus, it can be interpreted to be any baby. They are all gifts from God and greatly loved by him. Whether they are being given to the world or leaving it, He is with them."

New Life by Amanda Steel

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, "“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14 : 6

"The cross is a doorway into a new life, and the light of that life shines into the darkness. What’s actually through that doorway is hidden, as many things are with God. When we choose to step into that new life we do it in faith, trusting that when we can’t see ahead, he is there to guide us. I’ve shown the foot of the cross drawing back like a curtain to remind us: ‘With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom’ Mark 15:37-38"
